The Basics Week 1
Basic Electrical Training (5 Days)
The course contains theory and practical sessions covering essential foundation level principles that form the basis for any involvement with electrical systems. Topics Covered Include:
- Safe isolation of electrical circuits
- Safe working practices
- Electrical test instrumentation
- Electrical diagrams
- Cable and wiring systems
Get 'Hands On' Week 2 – 5
Domestic Electrician Workshop (20 Days)
This course aims to train students in the principles and practices of electrical installation work in a domestic environment. Students entering this style of course learn best from taking a practical approach.
- Course content is tailored for work in domestic installations
- Large elements of practical workshop time are allocated to an above national average skill level.
- Candidates will have completed several complicated house wiring tasks such as lighting circuits, power circuits, fixed equipment circuits, fuse board changes and a variety of wiring and bonding applications in kitchens and bathrooms.
Qualifications Achieved
EAL Level 2 Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification City & Guilds 2382-10 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Advanced Technical Qualifications Week 6
City & Guilds 2392-10 Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification of Electrical Installations (5 Days)
This course is an ideal next step from the 4 week domestic electrician workshop module. This new qualification is designed to the requirements of the 17th Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2008) and is restricted to initial verification processes only. The full qualification is achieved following successful completion of both a theory and practical assessment. Topics Covered Include:
- Requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Visual inspection of new work.
- Completion of an Electrical Installation
- Certificate, Minor Electrical Installation
- Works Certificate, Schedule of Inspection and a Schedule of Test Results.
- Testing techniques.
Qualification Achieved
City & Guilds 2392-10 Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification of Electrical Installations.
Build Your Business Week 7
Business Development Module (5 Days)
Students who have reached this stage of the training program may now be considering starting their own business and at Connaught we appreciate how difficult and challenging this can be. This module aims to provide students with everything they need to set up a successful business and take the stress away. The unit will focus on six key topics:
- Health and safety
- Business plan and process
- Sales and marketing
- Finance, planning for profit
- Customer service
Connaught have set up a partnership with Rotherham and Barnsley Chamber to deliver this course. Students will benefit from a range of speakers including a very experienced qualified accountant and a member of the Institute of Marketing.
